China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC)’s overseas subsidiaries and projects have closely followed the latest development of the COVID-19 pandemic and devised detailed epidemic prevention and control measures, which received praises in Egypt and other countries where CSCEC projects are based. As the virus continues to spread, CSCEC will take stringent prevention measures overseas to win this global fight against COVID-19.
On the morning of April 19 in Cairo, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inspected the Central Business District (CBD) project and received a briefing on epidemic prevention and production progress from the chairman of CSCEC Egypt。
On the construction site of the CBD Iconic Tower project, CSCEC Egypt briefed the prime minister on the key epidemic prevention and control measures taken by the company, which ensured that construction could continue amid the outbreak of COVID-19。 Madbouly spoke highly of CSCEC Egypt’s efforts to contain the virus and the overall progress of the project。 He also added that the Egyptian government would continue to offer support to the CBD project。
CSCEC Egypt’s efforts to prevent and control COVID-19
CSCEC ’s epidemic prevention and control team to Egypt took scientific measures and strengthened the emergency response mechanism in order to coordinate epidemic prevention and production. It ensured workers’ health and safety while continued making progress on the project. In addition, recently CSCEC donated epidemic prevention and medical supplies to Egypt to support its battle against COVID-19.
Over the past month, CSCEC ’s working team sent to Algeria and the entire company there carefully studied the coronavirus prevention guidelines and reached a consensus that prioritizes prevention and control efforts over operation and production. The team also analyzed and optimized the procedures to control the outbreak. They inspected the company’s over 40 projects and 64 subcontractors to identify the difficulties in preventing and controlling the epidemic, and constructed a joint prevention and control mechanism to combat the COVID-19.
In addition, CSCEC Algeria worked around the clock and managed to build a prevention and quarantine center within 10 days, which was put into use on April 10. The center consists of an uncontaminated area, a partially contaminated area, and a contaminated area, with the function of treating common illnesses, which safeguards the company against the epidemic.
China Construction America
New Jersey, where CSCEC subsidiary China Construction America (CCA) is headquartered, was severely impacted by the outbreak and declared a state of emergency. Facing new challenges and a pressing schedule, CCA’s Wittpenn Bridge project implemented stringent prevention measures and formed a team of over 40 workers on rotation shifts. With dynamic planning, effective infection prevention plans, and efficient management, the project made significant progress as of April 14 in the assembly of the control room and the equipment room of the bridge. The team received high praises from the New Jersey Department of Transportation for its strict implementation of outbreak prevention and control measures and efficient communication.
China Construction South Pacific
Facing the COVID-19 pandemic, China Construction (South Pacific) Development Co. (CCDC) took immediate action and adopted comprehensive outbreak prevention and control measures, which are carried out daily, systematically, and carefully to ensure the health of the employees. The supervision team provided infection prevention guidance both online and on-site, and carried out several inspections on the actions taken by the company to contain the outbreak. Starting from April 10, Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower began to conduct spot checks on the workers and their dormitories, and all CCDC’s projects that were inspected met the requirement of the government.
CSCEC Middle East
CSCEC Middle East has paid close attention to the development of the outbreak in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to adjust and update the emergency response plans promptly, refine and optimize the prevention measures, and strengthen the supervision mechanism and epidemic control network, so that the operation and production of the company can proceed in an orderly manner amidst the epidemic control.
Based on the company’s epidemic prevention and control guidelines, staff of each project department are required to carry out daily disinfection in the offices and on the construction site, as well as provide sufficient logistical support to ensure people’s safety and health。
