Since the Gateway at Wynwood project of Miami started in January 2020, China State Construction America (CCA) has been making steady progress, despite the challenges and setbacks during the coronavirus outbreak. The team followed local government's orders on prevention, control, and containment, reduced the number of people on site, imposed strict physical distancing among workers and managers, and raised the standard of hygiene and safety measures, whilst keeping daily construction on track. The team is now working on slab casting of the first floor, and the project progress is 20 days ahead of schedule.
The construction is firmly guided by green construction standards。 It will be a Class-A office building with convenient transportation。 Upon completion, the building will have more than 20,000 square meters of leasable space and approximately 2,500 square meters of ground floor retail, furnished with ancillary facilities。
The team had completed the pile cap construction, the casting of foundation beams and shear walls, and pipeline laying, all in the first 90 days。
In the early phase of the coronavirus outbreak, CCA had coordinated with property owners and sub-contractors to provide personal protective equipment for all workers on site, and took proactive measures to protect the workers。 After the emergency plan “Plaza Distancing Plan” was released, COVID-19 prevention and control became the top of the priority list regarding safety management。 The workplaces are disinfected on a daily basis; a dozen of hand washing facilities have been set up; and managers conduct field inspection via web cams and hold online team meetings。 The team even rented larger trailers to ensure workers comply with social distancing when off the job。 Food trucks serving the construction site have been removed。
While making plans for operations during the outbreak, the team also took into consideration such factors as the project's proximity to the downtown area and people’s daily lives in the neighborhood. The project has proceeded steadily with no confirmed or suspected coronavirus case, which earned praise from property owners.
Miami's Wynwood, a former industrial center, was once filled with dilapidated factory buildings。 In recent years, it has been rejuvenated and turned into a fashion and arts district。 Gateway at Wynwood, upon completion, will be a mixed-use building with both offices and retail spaces, and a new attraction for talents and investments.
